HARVEST STRAWBERRY


Stolon from plants and seedlings started berbung when he was 2 months after planting. The first interest should be discarded. After a 4 month old plants, flowers were allowed to grow into fruit. Flowering and fruiting period can last for 2 years without stopping.
 
Characteristics and Harvest

Fruits are a little chewy and a bit soft.
Rind predominantly red: red green to reddish yellow.
Fruit from 2 weeks after flowering or 10 days after the initial formation of the fruit.
 
How to Harvest
Harvesting is done by cutting out parts of the flower stalk with lids. Harvesting is done twice a week.
 
Estimated Production

Strawberry crop productivity depends varieties and cultivation techniques:

Varieties Osogrande: 1.2 kg / plant / year.
Varieties Pajero: 0.8 kg / plant / year.
Varieties Selva: 0.6 to 0.7 kg / plant / year.

Strawberry cultivation techniques with UV shade results from 1 to 1.25 kg / plant / year.
 
Postharvest

Collecting: The fruit is stored in a container with care so as not to bruise, keep in the shade or brought directly to the shelter outcomes. Spread fruit on the bare floor tarpaulin / plastic. Wash the fruit under running water and drain on the storage shelves.
Sorting and Classification: Separate the damaged pieces of fruit. Sorting fruit based on the variety, color, size and shape of the fruit. There are 3 classes of fruit quality, namely:
Extra classes: (1) measuring 20-30 mm fruit or dependent species, (2) color and uniform fruit maturity.
Class I: (1) measuring 15-25 mm fruit or dependent species, (2) the shape and color of the fruit varies.
Class II: (1) there is no limit on size of fruit, (2) the rest of the extra class selection and class I were still in good condition.
Packaging and storage: Fruits packed in transparent or white plastic container capacity from 0.25 to 0.5 kg and covered with polyethylene plastic sheet. Storage is done on the shelves in the refrigerator 0-1 degrees C.

 Classification and Quality Standards: Based on the size, the strawberries are classified into four classes, namely:

Class AA:> 20 g / fruit
Class A: 11-20 g / fruit
Class B: 7-12 g / fruit
Class C1: 7-8 grams / fruit
Quality is determined by the strawberry flavor (sweet-sour-acid), skin smoothness and mechanical injury in a collision or pests and disease.

 Sampling

One party / lots of fruit consisting of strawberries maximum 1,000 packaging. Samples are taken randomly from the amount of packaging in 1 (one) party / lot.
